About 2017 Ultima Tulie Chardonnay:
Ultima Tulie produces a very, very small amount of wine each year and have limited quantities to release. Their desire is to only make a handful of wines per year, babysit those barrels, and make the best damn wine they can.
Tasting Notes:
Subtle hints of oak and crisp flavors. Light and tight on the nose, this bottling by Cameron Stoffel shows dried lemon peels, scratched grapefruit, nectarine and minty herbs on the flinty nose. There is a strong grip to the palate, with flavors of squeezed lime, red apple and a saline touch.
Barrel Selection:
Fermented in 25% new Bel Air French Oak Barrels for 10 months.
Winemaking Notes:
100% Chardonnay from Bien Nacido vineyard. Fermented in 25% new Bel Air French Oak Barrels, 25% stainless steel, stirred weekly, on original lees.
About The Winery:
Cameron Stoffel, the owner of Ultima Tulie Wines, made his first batch of wine in a storage closet in 2011 at Herman Story Wines. Since then, he has been producing micro lots of high quality wine. No bottle of Ultima Tulie is sold without first touching his hands.
To him, Ultima Tulie represents surpassing the perceived or self-imposed limits. Ultima Tulie represents his love for exploring in nature, living life with purpose, loving the people he encounters, and hopefully finishing a damn good bottle of wine while he does so. His wine IS his Ultima Tulie.
