Buy Fableist Zinfandel at Elite Wine Society
About The Fableist Zinfandel:
Zinfandel produced from a small yield organic vineyard.
Tasting Notes:
Cozy as a Christmas fire, cranberry and rhubarb dance on the palate as you’re filled with the warmth of pie spice, followed by a silky finish. You can practically hear the crackling flames
Barrel Selection:
6 months in 100% American oak; 17% new, 83% neutral
Growing Notes:
Zinfandel grapes sourced from Central Coast. Old Potrero (organic) Vineyard. This old vine Zinfandel is located only 8 miles from the ocean, so the wine retains incredible acidity, even at riper levels. This block is entirely dry farmed in what is essentially beach sand with 10-by-10 spacing, evocative of Spain. This produces incredibly small yields.
Winemaking Notes:
Sustainable winemaking, no additives, vegan. Native yeast fermentation and minimal sulfur.
The winemaker plays with a small amount of whole cluster in their ferments to bring out savory components.
100% Zinfandel. The grapes were hand-picked and 100% destemmed. Fermented for 3 weeks, then pressed off to barrel. The winemaker prefers to use American oak to counterbalance the brightness of the fruit.
About The Winery:
The Fableist moreover is collaboration between winemakers Curt Schalchlin and Andrew Jones. Curt, owner and vintner of the heralded winery, Sans Liege, is further known for his critically acclaimed Rhone varietal wines. Together, they produce The Fableist, a collaboration that gives special attention to the craft and story behind each wine.
On the other hand each bottle artfully designed and inspired by one of Aesop’s many fables.
However each of his timeless vignettes has a moral, they believe that every blend has its own story to tell, its own lessons to teach.
“There’s something profound about wine; it can inspire, bring loved ones together, fill hearts with warmth. As you enjoy each glass, we hope these stories spark a desire to ponder what really matters in life — and may they encourage you to find the wisdom within yourself.”
