Buy 2022 Lieu Dit Cabernet Franc at Elite Wine Society
About 2022 Lieu Dit Cabernet Franc:
Sourced from own rooted vines planted at the Happy Canyon Vineyard in the east side of the Santa Ynez Valley. The wine is fermented using native yeast. The juice presses off the whole cluster lots. The wine is transferred to neutral oak barrels for the winter. Once malo is complete we transfer to tank prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes:
Strong floral and savory notes mend into a core of red/purplish fruit layered to create a vibrant red. Tannins overtime soften.
Harvest Date:
2022
Winemaking Notes:
Lieu Dit centers on Sauvignon Blanc and more limited bottlings of Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Rose and produces around 10,000 cases annually. Each wine is intentional, approachable, and balanced.
The Story About The Winery:
A partnership between two longtime friends, Eric Railsback and Justin Willett, began an incredible journey in Santa Barbara. Eric finished college in the region while Justin was beginning his winemaking career. Among a small community of young winemakers and restaurateurs in Santa Barbara that unified the common interest in wine and what could hold for future endeavors.
Trying to figure out the perfect formula resulted in numerous trips to France. They both decided to found Lieu Dit in 2011 with focus on indigenous varieties to the Loire Valley, found in Santa Barbara County. A perfect environment set in stone for growing grapes. Centering Lieu Dit on Sauvignon Blanc as well as putting a stamp on rarity by limiting bottlings of Melon de Bourgogne, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Rose of Pinot Noir. The adventure and proclamation of each vintage shows purity, elegance, and balance.
